S&O IP Thailand team conducted an anti-counterfeiting training on April 22, 2024, with the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) with approximately 20 officers.

DSI is an important department under the Ministry of Justice with a strong focus on intellectual property under the Bureau of IP Crime. They handle large and important cases particularly in cases that involve organized crime, corruption, human trafficking, intellectual property rights infringement, and other complex or high-profile offenses.

DSI will act against the infringers in Thailand if the case has the minimum threshold for the market value of IP-infringing goods to THB 5 million (approximately EUR 125,631). Recently, On January 30, 2024, we received an urgent request by the Department of Special Investigation regarding multi-brand name counterfeits were seized in the large-scale raid for five (5) locations at Bang Bon area in Bangkok with the total quantity exceeded 20,000 pieces, with an estimated market value of more than 50 million THB (1,395,439 USD) in damages.

Thus, we recognize the importance of offering DSI officers thorough training on anti-counterfeiting strategies concerning Intellectual Property Rights infringement. This initiative aims to equip DSI officers with the skills to identify counterfeit products of represented brands and foster key partnerships, thereby enhancing enforcement efforts by Thai authorities and diminishing the prevalence of counterfeits.
