S&O IP Participates in Indo-Pacific Workshop on Enforcement Against Trade in Counterfeit Goods

From July 30 to August 2, 2024, S&O IP participated in the "Indo-Pacific Workshop on Enforcement Against Trade in Counterfeit Goods" at The Lancaster Bangkok Hotel. The workshop was organized by the USPTO Global IP Academy in collaboration with the ASEAN IP Academy, with support from the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Daniel GREIF, Southeast Asia Director and Senior Trademark Attorney at S&O IP, participated as a panelist in three panels, contributing to discussions on:
• Challenges in Distinguishing Genuine Products from Counterfeits;
• Case Studies: Apparel, Household, Personal Care, and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods;
• Case Studies: Cosmetics and Skincare Products.
The workshop covered a wide range of topics, including measures against trade in illicit and counterfeit goods, collaborative efforts to combat counterfeiting, advertising fraud, criminal activity on online platforms, digital investigations, customs, and postal inspection challenges, and approaches to handling counterfeit goods in online markets while promoting ethical business practices.
The workshop provided a valuable platform for industry professionals to collaborate and share strategies aimed at enhancing enforcement efforts and protecting intellectual property rights across the Indo-Pacific region.
