The Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC) of Laos has launched a newly updated Intellectual Property Portal, developed with support from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). This updated, user-friendly platform is designed to help businesses protect their innovations and ideas, promoting a more dynamic and competitive economy.

Accessible at dip.gov.la, the portal offers a streamlined application process and comprehensive information on intellectual property rights. By simplifying IP protection, the platform encourages entrepreneurs to engage in research and development, leading to the creation of new products and services. This enhanced support aims to strengthen Lao companies' presence in global markets.

MOIC officials hailed the portal as a major step forward for the country's IP landscape, emphasizing its potential to attract foreign investment and stimulate innovation. USAID also commended the Lao government’s commitment to improving IP management, highlighting its positive impact on the competitiveness of Lao businesses both locally and internationally. The upgraded IP Portal is expected to boost economic growth, support technology transfer, and create jobs by safeguarding intellectual property and encouraging investment.
