S&O IP JOINS KEY SEMINAR ON BRANDING STRATEGIES AND IP DEVELOPMENT IN CAMBODIA

On July 26, 2024, S&O IP was privileged to participate in the "Intellectual Property Right Project: Branding Strategies in Cambodia Handover Ceremony and Seminar." Co-organized by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and the Department of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Cambodia in collaboration with the Japan Patent Office (JPO), the event marked a significant milestone in intellectual property development.

Key attendees included H.E. Suon Vichea, Advisor to the Ministry and Head of Secretariat of National Committee for Intellectual Property; Mr. Toru Furuichi, Director General for Research and Policy Design Administration, ERIA; Mr. Yugo Nagata, Project Leader/Lawyer; Dr. Yasuaki Naito, JETRO Bangkok; and Ms. Miyoshi Asagi, Counsellor, Embassy of Japan in Cambodia, alongside approximately 120 participants at Fairfield by Marriott Hotel.

During the seminar, H.E. Suon Vichea emphasized the Department of Intellectual Property's commitment to advancing digital automation in trademark registration services to enhance efficiency and user confidence. He discussed efforts to publicize intellectual property laws, improve enforcement, and expand public and educational IP training initiatives. He also emphasized the department's commitment to helping the private sector understand and engage with intellectual property rights.
