On January 4, 2025, Turkmenistan will officially become a member of the Eurasian industrial design protection system, following the deposit of its instrument of accession to the Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs to the Eurasian Patent Convention. This step makes Turkmenistan the final member of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) to join the system, solidifying its participation in this regional intellectual property framework.
With Turkmenistan’s accession, the Eurasian design system will now cover all EAPO member states, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
By joining this system, Turkmenistan strengthens its commitment to fostering innovation and protecting intellectual property rights. It also provides domestic and international applicants with access to broader regional protection, enhancing the scope of industrial design rights across the EAPO jurisdiction.
