Qazpatent Hosts Meeting with Patent Attorneys to Strengthen IP Cooperation

On March 12, 2025, a meeting with patent attorneys was held at Qazpatent, Kazakhstan’s Intellectual Property Office, in Astana. The purpose of the event was to discuss key issues in intellectual property and explore ways to strengthen cooperation between the agency and legal professionals.
Sabit Akhmetov, the newly appointed Director of Qazpatent, opened the meeting. He highlighted the agency’s ongoing efforts to implement modern tools and enhance its operational processes. Sabit Akhmetov also shared the key priorities for 2025, which include advancing digitalization, fostering international cooperation, and improving services for applicants.
During the discussion, participants addressed several important issues and proposed improvements to the procedures for registering patents, trademarks, and other intellectual property rights. The conversation focused not only on technical aspects of the agency’s operations but also on legal reforms needed to update existing norms. One of the key topics was the pre-litigation dispute resolution process, as well as the agency’s involvement in judicial proceedings related to the protection of intellectual property rights. A significant portion of the discussion also centered on digitalization, particularly the use of new technologies to enhance transparency, improve data security, and expedite the application and registration process.
