Kazakhstan Sees Increase in Utility Model Patents

According to Qazpatent, the National IP Office of Kazakhstan, there has been a noticeable increase in patent activity for utility models in the country. In 2022, Kazakhstan saw 1,094 utility model applications, and this number grew to 1,216 in 2023, reflecting an 11.2% increase.
The first half of 2024 also experienced growth in utility model applications, with 792 submissions — a 15.1% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
The issuance of utility model patents has also shown steady progress. In 2022, 864 patents were granted, and this number rose to 983 in 2023, marking a 13.8% increase. During the first half of 2024, 559 patents were issued, which represents a 12.5% increase over the same period in 2023.
These statistics indicate that the trend of patenting designs and utility models in Kazakhstan is strong and growing, with notable increases in both applications and patent grants.
