Effective February 23, 2024, the Minister of Justice of Kazakhstan has issued an Order amending the Rules governing trademark applications. Notably, an expedited examination procedure for trademarks will be introduced. Under the revised regulations, the preliminary examination period will be shortened to five days from the previous one-month timeframe, while the full examination period will be reduced to three months from seven months.

Traditionally, trademark registration proceedings take approximately eight months; however, with the implementation of the fast-track process, this timeline will be halved to four months. Interested applicants must formally request an accelerated examination and pay the additional official fees.
