IPOPHL AND PIA SIGN MOU TO ENHANCE IP AWARENESS IN THE PHILIPPINES

On June 22, 2024, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).

It was signed by IPOPHL Director General Rowel S. Barba and PIA Director General Jose A. Torres Jr., the MOU aimed to create a deeper understanding of intellectual property and educate PIA personnel and its partners on protecting intellectual property rights through training. Philippine Information Agency will leverage its media network to support IPOPHL's outreach efforts, engaging with communities across various provinces.

IPOPHL and PIA are developing a detailed work plan to ensure the memorandum yields concrete outcomes in promoting public interest in intellectual property. PIA Director General Torres expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, pledging to integrate IP awareness into the country’s regional offices and provincial information centers to underscore its economic and cultural significance.
