On June 27-28, 2024, the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP), in collaboration with the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), organized a patent training session in South Jakarta to enhance the competence of its employees in the field of patents.

Sri Lastami, Director of Patents, Integrated Circuit Layout Design, and Trade Secrets, stated that the DGIP is responsible for providing services by applicable laws and regulations and ensuring that all IP applications received are carefully and efficiently examined. The DGIP plays an important role in developing Indonesia's robust intellectual property (IP) ecosystem.

Mr. Lastami noted that the number of IP applications, particularly patent applications, has steadily increased, from 14,053 in 2022 to 15,023 in 2023.

Mr. Lastami expressed hope that through this training, participants can effectively apply their new skills within the DGIP's work environment. This will not only improve the quality of the DGIP's service to the public but also enhance work efficiency, particularly in the patent and trade secret sectors.

The event also covered topics such as patent classification and search, patent prosecution for genetic resources and traditional medicine, and patent prosecution management, including quality control and workload reduction.
