The Georgian-Swiss Intellectual Property Project officially concluded with a closing event held in Kachreti, Georgia. Launched on August 1, 2022, the Project was funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), and implemented in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) and Sakpatenti, Georgia’s National Intellectual Property Center.
The project aimed to enhance patent services, improve patent search capabilities, and strengthen the protection system for geographical indications (GIs) in Georgia. Soso Giorgadze, Chairman of Sakpatenti, highlighted how the project contributed to improving intellectual property services, supporting institutional development, and driving socio-economic progress.
The event featured presentations from government officials and experts, including Tobias Eisenring, a representative from the Swiss Research Institute of Organic Agriculture, who shared insights on Swiss GI coordination. Discussions included training initiatives, legal support for GI legislation, and best practices shared with Georgian producers.
Attendees included representatives from Sakpatenti, the Swiss Embassy in Georgia, the Georgian Accreditation Center, the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Wine Agency, and the National Food Agency, showcasing the project's broad impact on intellectual property and agricultural policy.
