Beijing IP Court Marks a Decade with Over 200,000 Cases Handled

The Beijing Intellectual Property Court has processed more than 200,000 cases since its founding, underscoring its role in promoting technological innovation, enhancing industry governance, and supporting market fairness.
According to a report released on November 6, 2024, the court handled a total of 201,984 IP cases between November 6, 2014, and October 2024. Of these, over 130,000 were trademark-related, with cases growing at an average annual rate of 16.27%. Established to advance IP judicial protection and reform, the court is one of China’s specialized bodies for resolving IP disputes. The court added that it will continue its strong support for IP protection, with focused efforts to cultivate talent and ensure its practices align with international standards.
With 91% of cases now filed online, the court recently issued guidelines to further improve efficiency and assist foreign litigants and their representatives with clear procedural requirements.
