Advancing IP and Innovation: Regional Meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan

On December 5–6, 2024, the Regional Meeting of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. Co-organized by WIPO, EAPO, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Justice, and Qazpatent (Kazakhstan IP Office), the meeting served as a platform to enhance international cooperation and address challenges in IP commercialization.

Over 50 representatives from countries including Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, France, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Switzerland, and Uzbekistan, along with key organizations like the Eurasian Patent Office, attended the event. Discussions focused on IP’s role in developing technology parks, forming strategic partnerships, and supporting SMEs. Experts from WIPO and Europe presented tools for IP marketing strategies, technology transfer, and patent analytics, while workshops enabled participants to develop strategies for promoting innovative projects tailored to their national contexts.

Kazakhstan’s role as host reinforced its commitment to advancing innovation, strengthening intellectual property systems, and driving economic growth in the region.
