Effective July 7, 2025, Kazakhstan will begin applying individual fees for trademark protection under the Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks. This follows the country’s official declaration under Article 8(7)(a) of the Madrid Protocol, submitted to WIPO in April.
The Madrid System allows trademark owners to seek protection in multiple countries through a single international application. While many members apply standard fees, the Protocol permits countries to set individual fees based on their national administrative and examination costs.
Under the new schedule for Kazakhstan:
• EUR 285 for up to three classes of goods or services
• EUR 80 for each additional class
• For collective marks: EUR 528 for three classes, plus EUR 60 per extra class
• Renewals: EUR 345 for three classes, and EUR 60 per additional class
S&O IP remains up to date on legislative and procedural changes affecting trademark protection across the region.
