The Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam (IP Vietnam), together with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), and the Korean Institute of Patent Information (KIPI), recently convened an international forum in Hanoi focused on Intellectual Property and Artificial Intelligence. The conference provided a platform for sharing knowledge and expertise, particularly integrating AI in managing industrial property applications and piloting AI-powered search engines for trademarks and patents.
Experts from WIPO and KIPO shared insights on using AI to enhance the efficiency of industrial property management. A representative from KIPO, Mr. Young Baek KIM, highlighted the transformative potential of IT in intellectual property offices, stressing plans for an AI-supported examination system in Vietnam. Vietnamese IP officers also participated in hands-on sessions, gaining practical experience with AI-driven tools for trademark and patent searches.
The initiative aligns with Vietnam’s National Strategy on AI, which aims to boost national competitiveness and economic growth by 2030. The strategy emphasizes AI's strategic role in various sectors, including intellectual property.
The cooperation between IP Vietnam, WIPO, KIPO, and KIPI is instrumental in developing AI-based IP management tools. Moving forward, IP Vietnam is committed to working closely with international IP partners to modernize its IP systems through AI integration, marking a significant step in Vietnam's journey toward digital transformation in intellectual property.
