Kazakhstan reinforces commitment to intellectual property rights during meeting with WIPO head in Geneva

At a meeting held in Geneva on the margins of the General Assembly of Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), the Minister of Justice of Kazakhstan, Azamat Yeskarayev, met with the Director General of WIPO, Mr. Daren Tang.
Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the protection of intellectual property and is actively engaged in improving the national system of registration of patents, trademarks and industrial designs. The Minister emphasised that Kazakhstan is currently considering accession to the Marrakesh Treaty and the Hague Agreement concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs. These international treaties play a crucial role in promoting cooperation and harmonisation of intellectual property practices on a global scale.
In addition, the Republic of Kazakhstan has developed a comprehensive three-year road map for the further development of the intellectual property sector. This road map outlined exact steps and initiatives aimed at fostering innovation, creativity and the protection of intellectual assets in the country. WIPO expressed its readiness to continue to provide assistance and capacity-building support in the area of intellectual property.
