On October 25, 2024, Thailand's Department of Special Investigation (DSI), executed a significant raid across seven locations in Bangkok. This large-scale operation targeted a well-coordinated network involved in the storage and distribution of counterfeit merchandise, underscoring Thailand's strengthened commitment to intellectual property (IP) rights enforcement.
The DSI obtained a search warrant from the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court, enabling an efficient and swift response. The raid led to the seizure of approximately 120,000 counterfeit items, with an estimated market value of 60 million THB (1.6 million EUR). The operation spanned two days, requiring 12 trucks and extensive manpower to secure the goods.
S&O IP Thailand played a key role in the operation, supporting the legal and logistical processes necessary for a successful raid. Working closely with DSI and other relevant authorities, S&O IP Thailand assisted in the planning, warrant acquisition, and coordination, ensuring a smooth and effective operation.
This raid marks an important step forward in Thailand’s IP enforcement landscape. The involvement of the Central Intellectual Property Court in expediting actions against IP infringement, combined with S&O IP’s ongoing support, highlights the collaborative progress being made to protect brands and foster consumer trust in Thailand. Through continued cooperation with enforcement agencies, S&O IP is dedicated to advancing a robust IP enforcement environment in the region.
