On October 25, 2024, the S&O IP China team held an intellectual property rights (IPR) training session with Fuzhou Customs, engaging about 35 frontline officials in person, and reaching an additional 153 officials from 9 subordinate customs offices through live streaming. This initiative aimed to enhance IP awareness and enforcement capabilities among customs teams responsible for monitoring trade in one of China’s critical coastal regions.
Located in Fujian Province along the Taiwan Strait, Fuzhou plays a strategic role in the Maritime Silk Road and the broader economic zone on the west coast of the Taiwan Strait.
As a major player in China’s foreign trade, Fujian reported an impressive import and export volume of nearly 1.5 trillion RMB in the first three quarters of this year, with over 745 billion RMB in trade linked to the "One Belt One Road" countries.
In 2023, Fuzhou Customs implemented key anti-counterfeiting campaigns, including the "Longteng Action" and "Blue Net Action," leading to the seizure of 4,406 batches of counterfeit goods, totaling 2.22 million items. This year, enforcement in postal channels intensified, with 6,677 infringing items seized in the first five months alone—marking a 75.9% increase compared to the previous year.
Organizing customs training sessions with frontline customs officials is essential for building familiarity with brand IP, fostering collaboration, and enhancing the effectiveness of anti-counterfeiting measures. Through these joint efforts, we aim to limit the flow of infringing goods across borders, ensuring stronger protection for brand IP in the import-export market.
