EAPO WILL DEVELOP CO-OPERATION WITH THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN

EAPO President Grigory Ivliev visited the Republic of Uzbekistan to participate in a regional seminar on licensing for technoparks, participants of the EAPO and WIPO pilot project on IP rights management.
Grigory Ivliev had a meeting with the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Akbar Tashkulov, and presented the prospects of joining the Eurasian Patent Organization.
Both parties agree that Uzbekistan’s participation in the regional system for protection of inventions and industrial designs will provide additional advantages for applicants. The accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan will also provide a number of significant long-term advantages, including promotion of economic development by attracting new companies to the country’s market, increase of investment potential, and promotion of interests at the regional level.
An agreement was reached to sign a Memorandum, which includes proposals on various areas of cooperation, such as the participation of specialists from the Republic of Uzbekistan in educational projects, improving the quality of examination, experience exchange on the digitalization of the Office, exchange of patent information, etc.
