According to the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO), the number of Eurasian design applications increased significantly in 2024, with 562 filings, a 52% rise from 2023. This increase highlights the growing interest in industrial design protection across the region, demonstrating the expanding economic activities and the value businesses place on intellectual property.

The EAPO also granted 402 patents for 961 industrial designs in 2024, a 28.4% increase over the previous year. Over the four-year period from 2021 to 2024, the EAPO granted 870 patents for a total of 2,076 industrial designs. This steady growth in patent grants reflects the strengthening of the regional system for protecting industrial designs and the increasing recognition of its importance by businesses in the region.

In 2024, patents were awarded to applicants from 17 countries, with first-time recipients from the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, and the Republic of Korea. Furthermore, on January 4, 2025, Turkmenistan became the eighth country to accede to the Protocol for the Protection of Industrial Designs to the Eurasian Patent Convention, further expanding the scope of protection. EAPO President Grigory Ivliev noted that the consistent increase in Eurasian applications demonstrates the growing interest and confidence in the regional system for industrial design protection.
