The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) has introduced the Madrid e-filing system, designed to enhance global exposure, reduce costs, and simplify processes for local companies.

Developed by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), this system streamlines the filing of international trademark applications through a single online platform. The system has two key components: the Office of Origin Module, which allows IP offices to manage files, and the Applicant Filing Module, which simplifies the application process. It automates the entry of essential trademark information, supports user authentication, and offers translation services, ensuring an efficient and paperless process.

Additionally, the system's advanced features include data import, categorization, and payment tools. Director General Rowel S. Barba of IPOPHL emphasized that this system will significantly benefit Philippine businesses by simplifying application procedures, lowering costs, expanding global reach, and supporting SMEs in international markets.
