CNIPA and Tsinghua University Partner to Establish International IP College

The China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and Tsinghua University recently convened in Beijing to discuss the joint establishment of an international intellectual property (IP) college. Shen Changyu, CNIPA Commissioner, and Li Luming, President of Tsinghua University, signed a cooperation agreement during the meeting, which was chaired by Jiang Peixue, Tsinghua’s Vice President.

The initiative aims to develop high-level IP talent, foster advanced academic research, and encourage high-end international exchanges. CNIPA Commissioner emphasized leveraging Tsinghua’s strengths in engineering, science, humanities, and law to integrate legal and technical expertise, creating new models for cultivating international and practical IP professionals.

The President of Tsinghua University described the collaboration as a key step toward building an IP powerhouse and supporting China’s innovation-driven development while advancing Tsinghua’s mission to be a world-class university. The agreement outlines the plans for a governing council to oversee joint decision-making, talent development, academic research, and exchange programs.

This initiative underscores a shared commitment to advancing China’s innovation-driven development.
