On March 8, 2025, China's Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP) presented its 2025 Work Report at the 14th National People’s Congress, highlighting the nation's ongoing commitment to strengthening intellectual property (IP) protection.
The report revealed that in 2024, China prosecuted 21,000 individuals for IP-related crimes, including violations of trademark, patent, copyright, and trade secret laws.
The 2025 Work Report, presented at the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People, underscores the Chinese judiciary’s focus on bolstering IP enforcement. Particular attention is being given to emerging industries such as artificial intelligence (AI), biomedicine, and advanced manufacturing, aligning IP protection efforts with the country’s drive for technological advancement and innovation.
Through these efforts, China aims to strengthen its legal framework, ensuring robust protection for intellectual property rights and fostering an environment conducive to technological growth and economic development.
