China and Malaysia Strengthen IP Cooperation

On May 12, 2025, Lu Pengqi, Deputy Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), met with Sh. Arifin bin Sh. Mohd Noor, Deputy Director General of Malaysia’s Intellectual Property Corporation (MyIPO) in Beijing.

CNIPA Deputy Commissioner highlighted the strong ties between China and Malaysia, emphasizing the role of intellectual property (IP) in their recent diplomatic relations, including a memorandum of understanding signed during President Xi Jinping’s visit to Malaysia. He expressed hope for deeper collaboration between CNIPA and MyIPO.

MyIPO Deputy Director General commended China’s IP achievements and called for more cooperation, particularly in sharing knowledge and launching joint projects. Both sides also held discussions on topics such as patent information services and and patent searching on traditional Chinese medicine.
