The Government of Uzbekistan has approved measures to modernise the national intellectual property system, including the creation of a unified “Intellectual Property Protection” portal to streamline rights administration and enforcement. The platform will be established by integrating existing digital portals under the Ministry of Justice and is part of a broader set of reforms aimed at expanding digital services and strengthening IP protection nationwide.

The new portal is designed to provide a single digital interface for a range of IP-related services. Users will be able to submit IP inquiries, conclude contracts linked to IP objects online, and access information on identified counterfeit goods and websites whose activities have been restricted for violating IP rights. Authorities are also working to introduce artificial intelligence technologies to shorten examination timelines and reduce administrative barriers, with a target of increasing the number of registered IP rights to 100,000 by the end of 2027 and cutting registration examination times in half.

In addition to improving access and digitalisation, the broader IP reforms include initiatives to enhance enforcement and international cooperation. From March 1, 2026, court-imposed penalties for IP violations will begin to influence business ratings, and the possession of registered trademarks and service marks will contribute positively to commercial scoring. Educational and professional development programmes in intellectual property management are also planned at major universities, and national competitions for outstanding inventions and creative works will be held annually to promote innovation.
