Authorities in Shaanxi Province have reported continued progress in building a more comprehensive intellectual property system, with a focus on both protection and practical use of IP rights.

According to the provincial IP administration, as of June 2025, there were 125,000 valid invention patents, 879,000 registered trademarks and 96 geographical indication products in the province. Efforts have also included tackling piracy, improving efficiency in handling IP cases, and setting up overseas workstations in the United Kingdom and Kazakhstan to assist local entities with international IP matters.

Law enforcement officials highlighted the role of the police in supporting these initiatives, noting that over the past three years 1,700 IP infringement cases were resolved and more than 2,100 suspects detained. Special campaigns have also been launched to address online privacy and trade secret theft.

At the municipal level, Xi’an has emphasized the integration of cultural heritage with modern innovation, while also strengthening the registration and enforcement of related rights. The city has introduced dedicated IP service stations, 244 in total, to provide support for innovators and enterprises.

Looking ahead, the provincial IP administration indicated that Shaanxi will continue to enhance its IP framework to ensure that rights holders and innovators receive more effective protection and services.
