Senior representatives of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) and national IP authorities gathered in Astana for the IV Eurasian Conference on Intellectual Property and Technologies – IP Eurasia/IP Kazakhstan 2025, where member states discussed current trends shaping the regional patent landscape. The event brought together delegates from Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan to exchange insights on technological development and harmonisation of IP practices across the region.

A central theme of the conference was the growing impact of artificial intelligence on innovation and patenting. Officials noted a steady increase in AI-related filings and emphasised the need for examination practices that reflect emerging technologies. Pharmaceutical patenting was another key focus, with discussions highlighting the importance of continued support for medical research and strong patent protection in the public health sector.

The meeting reaffirmed the strategic role of the Eurasian patent system in providing a unified framework for securing rights across multiple jurisdictions. Strengthening cooperation among EAPO members remains a priority as the region seeks to support innovation, streamline patent procedures, and respond to evolving technological trends.
