Cambodia’s Leadership in IP Development and Global Collaboration at WIPO 66th General Assembly

Cambodia is reaffirming its commitment to intellectual property development and global collaboration during the ongoing 66th General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), taking place in Geneva from July 8–17, 2025. Leading the Cambodian delegation, Ouk Prachea — Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce and Vice Chair of the National Committee for Intellectual Property — addressed delegates from over 190 countries, emphasizing Cambodia’s growing role in shaping regional and global IP policy.
In his statement, Ouk Prachea highlighted key national efforts aligned with Cambodia’s Intellectual Property Policy 2023–2028 and the first phase of the Pentagonal Strategy, aimed at fostering innovation, digital transformation, and inclusive economic growth. He noted that IP development plays a central role in Cambodia’s vision for sustainable national advancement, including the integration of technology, artificial intelligence, and creative industries.
As the current Chair of the ASEAN Working Group on Intellectual Property Cooperation (AWGIPC), Cambodia reiterated its leadership role in fostering regional harmonization of IP frameworks. The delegation also underscored continued collaboration with WIPO and bilateral partners.
On the sidelines of the Assembly, Ouk Prachea held a bilateral meeting with Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Law to explore further joint efforts in IP-related areas, reflecting Cambodia’s strategic intent to deepen cooperation and strengthen IP governance across borders.
