On October 22-23, 2024, Emil Mammadov, Counsel to the President of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO), shared insights on the strengthening partnership between the National Center of Intellectual Property of Belarus (NCIP) and EAPO during the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference titled “Intellectual Property in the Modern World: Challenges of Time and Development Prospects,” held in Minsk.
Emil Mammadov noted a 28% rise in Eurasian patents for inventions and a 33% increase in industrial designs in Belarus in 2023, crediting NCIP's initiatives in promoting intellectual property. Among successful collaborative projects, he highlighted the international “Discovering the World of IP 2024” competition, supported by EAPO, which saw over 1,300 participants in 2023.
Future areas of collaboration were highlighted, including developing a unified Eurasian registry. NCIP has participated in a pilot project to standardize data transfer of national patent information on pharmaceutical inventions into the Eurasian Pharmaceutical Register. Additionally, Belarus has joined the Eurasian Patent Prosecution Highway (EA-PPH) initiative to streamline patent applications.
Belarus is strengthening its role within the Eurasian IP landscape, supporting innovation, and enhancing patent practices.
