S&O EURASIA PARTICIPATES IN AEPA CONFERENCE ON EURASIAN PATENT SYSTEM TRANSFORMATION

On June 13-14, 2024, the Assembly of Eurasian Patent Attorneys (AEPA), in collaboration with the Eurasian Patent Office, hosted the International Conference of Eurasian Patent Attorneys “Transformation of the Eurasian Patent System. Assessment and Prospects" in Minsk, Republic of Belarus. This conference marked the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Eurasian Patent Convention.

Our colleagues from S&O EURASIA, Anna KORNILOVA, Legal Practice Director, and Irina ASHKINA, Senior IP Associate, participated at the conference.

Key topics included the plans of the Eurasian Patent Office, such as a new Eurasian trademark system, discussions on industrial design patents, technology licensing, and legal protections for utility models across Eurasia.

The conference began with an opening ceremony featuring speeches by Grigory IVLIEV, President of the Eurasian Patent Office, and Vladimir RYABOV, General Director of the National Center of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Belarus. On the second day, sessions focused on licensing and franchising within the Eurasian Economic Union, along with judicial practices in intellectual property. The event concluded with a gala dinner hosted by the Eurasian Patent Office and the Assembly of Eurasian Patent Attorneys.
