EURASIAN PATENT FOR INDUSTRIAL DESIGNS NOW AVAILABLE IN TURKMENISTAN

On July 13, 2024, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the Law of Turkmenistan "On Accession to the Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs to the Eurasian Patent Convention of September 9, 1994." This protocol, adopted on September 9, 2019, at a diplomatic conference in Nur-Sultan, is a key document in industrial design protection.
According to Article 22(4) of the Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs, this international treaty will enter into force for Turkmenistan three months after depositing the instrument of accession. Consequently, companies and inventors in Turkmenistan will soon be able to take advantage of the Eurasian patent system to protect their industrial designs at the international level.
