ANNOUNCEMENT OF INTERNATIONAL FILING FEE, INTERNATIONAL SEARCH FEE, TRANSMITTAL FEE, AND LATE PAYMENT FEE.

On April 1, 2024, the Thai Department of Intellectual Property (“DIP”) has revised its official fees announcement (“Announcement”), which took effect immediately. The revision aims to align the international search fee with the rate charged by the International Searching Authority (ISA). Additionally, it aims to conform with the current exchange rate.
The Announcement outlines the following key points:
(I) The Announcement specifies that applicants for International Applications must pay the International Filing Fee, International Search Fee, Transmittal Fee for the Thai Receiving Office (“RO”) as outlined in the annex.
(II) According to Clause 10, paragraph two of the Ministerial Regulations on the Application for Patent Protection to Implement the Patent Treaty Cooperation B.E. 2552 (2009), the late payment fee is 50% of the unpaid international application filing fees. The late payment cost cannot exceed 50% of the international application filing fees. However, the additional fee for exceeded sheets, applicable to international applications with more than 30 sheets, does not contribute to the late payment fee.
