On July 9, 2024, the 65th series of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) began in Geneva, with representatives from over 190 countries in attendance. The Kazakh delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Justice Botagoz Zhakselekova.

In her address, Deputy Minister Zhakselekova highlighted Kazakhstan's strong support for WIPO initiatives and its dedication to enhancing cooperation with member states through the establishment of intergovernmental and interagency agreements. She noted Kazakhstan's substantial efforts over the past year in the intellectual property sector, including the submission of a draft law to Parliament for the ratification of the Marrakesh Treaty, which aims to improve access to published works for the blind and visually impaired, and ongoing efforts to join the Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs.

Zhakselekova also emphasized the importance of developing skilled personnel in the intellectual property field and strengthening human capital. She announced the launch of the region's first specialized Master of Laws (LL.M) program in Intellectual Property and Business Law.

On the first day of the WIPO Assembly, discussions were held with Habip Asan, Director of the Department for Transition and Developed Countries at WIPO, and Grigory Ivliev, President of the Eurasian Patent Office, to explore cooperation in intellectual property.

Additional bilateral meetings with various international organizations and delegations from WIPO member states are planned.
