On February 28th, 2025, S&O IP Cambodia was honored to be invited by the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE) to attend the “Destruction Ceremony of Illicit and Deteriorated Goods” held at the Chip Mong Insee Cement (CMIC) Company in Kampot Province. This significant event marked the first major destruction ceremony conducted by the GDCE in collaboration with the Consumer Protection Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate-General (CCF), the Ministry of Environment, and CMIC's Department of Eco-Cycle.

The ceremony, presided over by His Excellency Dr. Kun Nhem, Minister attached to the Prime Minister in Charge of the GDCE, aimed to highlight Cambodia's ongoing commitment to cracking down on illicit goods, particularly those infringing intellectual property (IP) rights, and protecting public health and safety.

In total, 107 types of illicit and deteriorated goods, weighing approximately 507 tons, were destroyed.

GDCE has been increasingly important in preventing the circulation of counterfeit products, goods that violate exclusive distributor rights, and those that pose a risk to consumer health. The ceremony served as a reminder of the government's dedication to enforcing laws, maintaining the integrity of the market, and ensuring the safety of consumers and the environment.
