In late December 2025, the Guangdong Intellectual Property Research Association Standardisation Committee was officially launched in Guangdong Province.

On December 26, 2025, the committee was unveiled in Foshan and represents a concerted effort to advance the development of intellectual property standards that support management, protection, and commercialisation in a major economic region.

At the launch event, the association and the Guangdong High-Tech Enterprise Association jointly released a “Patent Valuation Standard” as a group standard, marking an important initial output of the committee’s work. This standard aims to promote consistency and transparency in how patents are valued, which can strengthen IP operations and support the integration of IP into broader business practice.

The committee is tasked with deepening theoretical and practical research on IP management, protection, valuation, and transactions. It will take a leading or participatory role in drafting and reviewing standards at the international, national, local, and group levels, fostering a comprehensive set of standards across the IP lifecycle.

Beyond standard formulation, the committee is expected to promote practical application and industry adoption, including facilitating models that integrate patents with standards to support innovation and industrial upgrading in the Greater Bay Area and beyond.
