Effective December 1, 2025, China Customs has announced upgrades to its online intellectual property recordal platform, aimed at improving the efficiency and accuracy of IP recordal procedures at the border. The updated system introduces enhanced data-management tools, streamlined submission workflows, and improved interfaces for communication between rights holders and customs officials.
The upgrade is intended to strengthen cooperation between customs authorities and brand owners by enabling faster verification of rights, clearer documentation of product information, and more efficient handling of suspected infringing shipments. The enhancements also support more consistent enforcement practices across regional customs offices, reflecting China’s broader effort to modernise border-protection mechanisms.
For rights holders active in China, maintaining an accurate and up-to-date customs recordal remains one of the most effective tools in preventing the import and export of counterfeit goods. The improved platform is expected to facilitate smoother interaction with enforcement authorities and provide a more robust foundation for timely border interventions.
