Trademark Applications Increased by 34% in Kazakhstan

In the first half of 2024, trademark applications to Qazpatent (Kazakhstan IP Office) saw a remarkable 34% increase compared to the same period last year.

The majority of these applications were for advertising and business management (Class 35). Almaty led the charge, accounting for 38% of the total applications, followed by Astana with 24%. Other notable contributors included the Almaty region, Shymkent, and the Karaganda region.

This surge underscores a growing recognition among businesses of the importance of securing legal protection for their brands. The leading sectors for trademark registrations included advertising and business management (44%), apparatus and instruments (20.6%), clothing and footwear (18.7%), food products such as coffee, tea, and cereals (13.8%), and household goods (12.7%).
