Over the past few years, Kazakhstan has been striving to improve the tracking system of goods that enter the country. A special marking system is being introduced, which registers information about each product through a unique data matrix code, demonstrating the entire path of the product from the manufacturer/importer to the final consumer. In Kazakhstan, the labeling and traceability system applies to three commodity groups: tobacco (the labeling code replaced the function of the excise stamp from January 1, 2022), footwear products (from November 1, 2021) and from July 1, 2022 – the phased introduction of labeling and traceability of medicines.
According to the Decree of the Kazakh Government No. 588 dated August 31, 2021, shoe goods are included in the list of mandatory goods subject to labeling in Kazakhstan. At the request of entrepreneurs, the deadline for the introduction of a marking system for shoes was extended until April 1, 2023. It should be noted that there are no penalties provided for violation of the rules of marking and traceability of footwear products in the legislation of Kazakhstan.
