As part of a summit initiated by the UK to analyze the benefits and dangers of developing artificial intelligence (AI) technology, 28 states signed a document regarding security issues in this area.
Among the main risks of the spread of AI technology, the document notes the threat of loss of control over the operation of such devices or their deliberate use for malicious purposes, for example, organizing biological or cyber attacks, as well as in dangerous bioengineering developments.
Therefore, in order to prevent such threats, the declaration proposes to form a unified international approach to this problem in the field of both identifying potential risks of AI technology, and developing and continuously improving a common scientific understanding of such risks, going step by step with the development of artificial intelligence, in the general context expanding understanding of the impact of AI on society.
The declaration was signed, among others, by the USA, Canada, China, India, Germany, France, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, South Korea and a number of other states and international organizations.
