CHINESE COPYRIGHT REGISTRATIONS UP 40% IN 2023

According to a statement from the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC) on February 19, 2024, copyright registrations in 2023 surged to 8,923,901, marking a substantial 40.46% increase from the previous year. Specifically, there were 2,495,213 registrations for computer software copyrights, representing a 39.95% rise, while non-software copyright registrations reached 6,428,277, up by 42.30%.

In the same year, China saw 411 copyright pledge registrations, marking a 17.43% increase from the previous year. These registrations involved 382 contracts and 2,082 works, reflecting increases of 31.27% and 36.88%, respectively.

Breaking it down further, there were 361 computer software copyright pledge registrations, with 361 contracts and 2,032 works involved. Additionally, there were 50 copyright pledge registrations for non-software works, with 21 contracts and 50 works involved.
